I received an email this morning from a customer advising me to check out something she had written on her blog.   What I read touched my heart and actually brought tears to my eyes.  Her note came on a day that I needed a boost I guess.  What she said about me, well, it’s true, it is the way I treat people.  Everyone who walks thru the doors of my store will be acknowledged with a smile, treated with the utmost respect, and given the highest level of service possible.    Regardless…of anything!  The girls who work with me do the same…or they wouldn’t be here!  I expect nothing less, because this is the way I expect to be treated when I shop.  But it does go beyond this for me.  People like Naomi and all you other wonderful customers that I try so hard to get to know, you are WHY I DO THE THINGS I DO!   You are truly friends to me, and not just customers.  I share your deepest, most personal memories with you, as you create and cherish your scrapbook pages.  I laugh with you, I cry with you, I cheer you on!  You are my inspiration and my reason for unlocking the door to my store each morning!  I thank you for your business, oh yes I do, but more than that, I thank you for your friendship!  Here is what Naomi posted:

Living in Toronto is not my ideal. It’s too crowded and people seem too busy and self-involved to even bother to raise their heads and say hello. It has always bothered me, but it really makes me appreciate it when we go back home to Trenton and I see the friendly cashiers at all the shops who take the time to say hello, ask you how you are doing and the like.
It’s not a deep relationship or anything, but its friendly courtesy.
One thing that has REALLY bothered me is the treatment I get at my Toronto neighborhood scrapbooking store. It’s a given that I don’t look like their average customer. I have a bit of a punk-ish style and I’m a twenty-something. But I can’t help but think that getting a rude attitude and never being smiled at, or assisted and even being argued with (!!) is not the best way for them to treat their customers no matter who they are or what they look like. I don’t understand what their problem is! What is with them being so snotty?
I would like to boycott the store entirely but unfortunately it is the only place nearby for decent supplies. I am however, doing all that I can to purchase my supplies elsewhere…mainly at my favorite store back in Trenton, Scrapbooks and Smiles.
Paula Mason, who is the owner of the store started running it out of her house and eventually moved into a beautiful store front. She has always been so kind to both my mother and I (and even my husband). She knows how to run a good business and treats her customers properly. She is always to helpful and remembers us every time we come in (she even knows who some of our extended family are!!)
All this to say…go and visit her store if you are ever passing through Trenton. It is a stop well worth your time.

We’re going back to Trenton tonight since we’re on reading break…(yay!) Mom and I are going to be scrapping at Paulas on Friday, I can’t wait!

I hope that many of you were able to be home and enjoy our first “Family Day”!   I spent the day hanging out with the kids while John was hard at work in Texas!  Yep, working on not only our FAMILY Day, but America’s PRESIDENTS Day!  Poor Guy!  LOL!

When I left the store Saturday, there was only ONE paper grab bag left!  Who will be the lucky customer to get it???  We are also  sold out of our February Monthly Get Scrappin’ Page Challenge Kits.  That means we will be voting on 10 layouts this month, beginning the 26th of February.  I have changed the voting process slightly going forward. You will receive a ballot when you make a purchase during the voting time-frame.   Each customer who makes a purchase, will get a vote!!

As for the spring retreat, I believe we are down to about 10 rooms remaining!  So if you have not yet contacted me regarding your deposit, please do so asap!  Like I said when registration opened, this retreat is going to fill FAST!  So if you don’t want to miss out, get your deposits in NOW!!!!!
